24 is said to be preparing for some notable changes to its format next season, with rumors circulating that the CTU element of the series will be jettisoned. It was also speculated that the show might also no longer contain a presidential storyline, which has typically run parallel to whatever new adventure Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is on.

However, it seems that may not be the case after all, as the producers of the hit FOX series are now considering adding a new female president to the show in Season 7. The show has had several different presidents over the course of its run, and is notable for portraying the first ever black president on a TV series; David Palmer, played by Dennis Haysbert. While there have been other female presidents on television before, including on FOX's own Prison Break, The Hollywood Reporter notes that adding one to 24 for this coming season would be a bit more notable in early 2008 (when the show returns) given Hillary Clinton's current real life run for the White House.
